I’ve always been drawn to the stunning hair styles of flawless models like Cindy Crawford or Claudia Schiffer. Their hair always looks so perfect and yet so effortlessly gorgeous all at the same time. While I would never have the looks or the shape of these biological miracles, I think it’s reasonable to say that I am able to successfully reach their hairstyles. The best part is, just about any woman can do it too. So what is the secret? 2 words: hair extensions. Shhh, don’t tell!
I first fell completely in love with hair extensions when I was asked to be a bridesmaid for a friend’s wedding. She wanted her bridal party to all have long, flowing hair to match her casual beachside wedding. Her vision was “beachside chic”, as she likes to call it. I suppose my shoulder-length bob just wasn’t fitting, so we called in a stylist to give us the look we were after. It was my first experience with hair extensions, and I haven’t looked back since.
I might never had the courage to try hair extensions if it were not for this special occasion, but I am so satisfied I did. Before having hair extensions, I believed they were uncomfortable to put in, aggravating to manage on a daily basis, and that others would know right away that it was not my natural hair. Boy, was I wrong. It seems the opposite was true. They were a breeze to get and took no time whatsoever, and I went from girl-next-door to glamour goddess in a snap.
I was easily able to manage them with minimal attention and daily care, and they looked as good as the day I got them. Of course the coolest part was all the compliments I’d get from people everywhere. My sisters and close friends knew it was not my natural hair, as it was clear that my hair really couldn’t grow that fast, but absolute strangers would not tell the difference!
Nowadays I’m a total hair extension convert, and I completely recommend them for anyone who wants to get gorgeous hair like you’d see in a magazine or on your favorite celebrity. I must admit, when I walk out of the house with my extensions, I'm noticeably more confident. Looking good translates into feeling great, and I have that extra boost thanks to my extensions. I know it may seem daft or fickle to say that a rocking hairstyle causes you to feel better about yourself, but it's absolutely true.
